“In relation to the provision of a rehabilitation ward, will the Minister advise –

  1. the date on which Samarès Ward is scheduled to reopen;
  2. the number of beds that will be available in Samarès Ward , and if not the full complement of 28, why not;
  3. the costs incurred by the move from Plémont Ward to Samarès Ward ; and
  4. a breakdown of all costs incurred in refurbishing Plémont ward?”

Answer

  1. the date on which Samarès Ward is scheduled to reopen;

As announced on Tuesday 19 July, Samares Ward is due to reopen on Wednesday 10 August.

  1. the number of beds that will be available in Samarès Ward , and if not the full complement of 28, why not;

Firstly, it should be clarified that there were 27 beds on Samares Ward , not 28 as identified in the question.

On reopening of Samares Ward , there will be 14 rehabilitation beds available. The remaining 13 beds will be allocated to patients principally needing packages of care in the community and whose transfer of care is delayed.

  1. the costs incurred by the move from Plémont Ward to Samarès Ward ; and

Further time is required to provide a comprehensive breakdown of the costs for the re-opening of Samares Ward . The response will also seek to provide a comparison against historic and future costs. The response will be submitted to the States Greffe for circulation to all States Members on Monday 1 August 2022.
