Deputy Rob Ward has been appointed as the new Chair of the Jersey branch of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), following a meeting of the new Committee on Tuesday 4 October.

The meeting also saw the appointment of new Members of the Committee to represent the Island in the Commonwealth for the next four years. Connétable Karen Stone, Deputy Montfort Tadier, Deputy Jonathan Renouf, Deputy Hilary Jeune, Deputy Raluca Kovacs, Deputy Kirsten Morel, Connétable Mike Jackson, Deputy Mary Le Hegarat, Deputy Carina Alves and Deputy Moz Scott were elected.

Chair of the Committee, Deputy Rob Ward, commented: "I'm delighted to Chair the CPA for the next four years and very pleased to be joined by a diverse range of States Members, many of which are also new to the Committee. Together, I hope that we can utilise our fresh ideas and work collaboratively to cement Jersey as an inclusive, representative and transparent Commonwealth Parliament. It is important that, over the next four years, we build on our positive relationships with other Commonwealth parliaments and deliver on our mission to deliver effective oversight, scrutiny and representation."
