Next week’s States Meeting: Tuesday 22 October

On Tuesday 22 October, the next meeting of the States Assembly will commence at 9:30am. The meeting takes place in the States Chamber and is open for the public to attend, as well as being broadcast live via Public-I and on the States Assembly YouTube channel.  

Oral Questions

States Members will question Ministers for up to 2 hours and 20 minutes. These oral questions will have been issued to them in advance (i.e. 'with notice'). Details of next week's oral questions with notice can be found on page 8 of the Order Paper.

The following Ministers will then answer oral questions which they have not been given in advance of the meeting (i.e., 'without notice') for 15 minutes each:

  • Minister for the Environment, Deputy Steve Luce
  • Minister for External Relations, Deputy Ian Gorst
  • Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham

Proposals to introduce a 15% minimum corporate income tax for multinational companies known as the OECD Pillar 2 framework. This involves changes to two pieces of legislation.

Deputy Jonathan Renouf's amendment

Changes to the law allowing a ship's registration on the Jersey Ships' Registry to be terminated if its owners, or those responsible for it, do not meet their outlined obligations.

Minister for Sustainable Economic Development's proposition

Changes within the Family Division of the Royal Court which would establish a new office, bringing it in line with other jurisdictions.

Minister for Justice and Home Affairs' proposition

Changes to the law that would increase the component rate of Income Support by 4% from the beginning of next year.

Minister for Social Security's proposition

A proposal requesting a consultation into the reporting of the gender pay gap in the private sector.

The future management and maintenance of the Havre des Pas Bathing Pool and Cafe

Deputy David Warr's proposition

Deputy David Warr's amendment

A proposal requesting that changes to the way Culture, Arts and Heritage are funded, as outlined in the proposed Budget, are removed and the current model reinstated.

Deputy Montfort Tadier's proposition

A notification when each debate begins, a summary of the proposal and the results of each debate will be shared on the States Assembly X page (formerly Twitter) throughout the meeting. A summary of the meeting will be shared at the end of each day on the news section of the States Assembly website.
