Next Week's States Meeting: Tuesday 25 February

On Tuesday 25 February, the next meeting of the States Assembly will commence at 9.30am.The meeting takes place in the States Chamber and is open for the public to attend, as well as being broadcast live on our website and on the States Assembly YouTube channel

 

Appointments/Announcements 

First in States business is the announcement of the resignation of Public Accounts Committee lay member, Mr Graeme Phipps. 

 

Oral Questions 

States Members will question Ministers for up to 2 hours and 20 minutes. These oral questions will have been issued to them in advance (i.e. ‘with notice’). Details of next week’s oral questions with notice can be found on page 5 of the Order Paper. 

 

The following Ministers will then answer oral questions which they have not been given in advance of the meeting (i.e. ‘without notice’) for 15 minutes each: 

  • Minister for Children and Families, Constable Richard Vibert 

  • Minister for Education and Lifelong Learning, Deputy Rob Ward 

  • Chief Minister, Deputy Lyndon Farnham

P.88 States of Jersey Development Company: Pre-Sales Provisions for Residential Developments and Pre-Let(s) Provisions for Commercial Developments. 

 

The Council of Ministers is proposing that the States of Jersey Development Company should, when developing a residential site, have secured a minimum of 25% of the Gross Development Value as legally binding pre-sales and meet third party funding requirements; and on a commercial development, a sufficient level of pre-lets that, together with the unlet space, will deliver an end value of the completed building that exceeds the cost of construction.  

This Proposition is being read ‘as amended’ by the CoM’s own amendment.

P.9 Revocation of Aviemore sale   

 

Deputy Alex Curtis is proposing that the Minister for Infrastructure does not go ahead with the sale of Aviemore to the States of Jersey Development Company.  

 

Deputy Curtis is also requesting that the Council of Ministers consult the States Assembly and public about the future use and ownership of Aviemore.

P.8 Draft Crime (Public Order) (Jersey) Amendment Law 202- 

Please Note: The following will only be debated if the States Assembly vote to allow the Minister to reduce the minimum lodging period: 

The Minister for Justice and Home Affairs, Deputy Mary Le Hegarat, is proposing to amend the Crime (Public Order) (Jersey) Law 2024 to provide clear provision regarding the treatment of restraining orders made under the now repealed Crime Disorderly Conduct and Harassment (Jersey) Law 2008. The amendment would allow any orders made under that law to be treated as though they were made under the current law.
