REPORT
Since the onset of this Assembly we have heard much about the need to ensure inclusive' government. As has been mentioned in the States by a number of Members, I too believe that it is essential that whenever new developments or alterations to existing infrastructure are planned, political representatives from within the relevant parish or district should be included in any planning or working group set up to explore the issues. A prime example of this is obviously in the forthcoming development of the Millennium Town Park in St. Helier No. 2.
With Fort Regent being situated within the St. Helier No. 1 district, I thus believe it is only right that at least one of the district's Deputies is included to assist with this major project to try and find a way forward for a much-loved, but sadly dilapidated community facility. Indeed, if at all possible I believe that all three of the Deputies should be afforded the opportunity to be involved if they so choose.
Given that as the Vice-Chairman of the Education, Sport and Culture/Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel I shared the view that we should not propose one of we members to sit on the working group, I am now bringing this simple amendment forward in my own name.
Financial and manpower implications
I believe that there are no financial or manpower implications for the States arising from this amendment.
