REPORT

This amendment is intended to clarify the expectation that the Chief Minister may wish to consider a number of means by which appropriate ministerial oversight of the justice system can be achieved, which may include, although may not be restricted to, a new ministerial office of Minister for Justice in Jersey. It is expected that the Chief Minister, in consultation with the Council of Ministers, will be likely to consider more than one option before reporting to the States with recommendations or proposals no later than 31st July 2013.

Financial and manpower implications

The Chief Minister's Department has indicated that they are able to accommodate this work  from  within  existing  resources  and  accordingly  there  will  be  no  additional financial or manpower implications arising from this amendment at this stage.
