REPORT

After consideration, it seemed that the schedule was too narrow in its scope, and it was more appropriate to allow some flexibility, without altering the main thrust of the proposition.

At the same time, an evaluation of the off-Island businesses is an essential part of the overall strategy proposed in the proposition. It will be required when considering the valuation of the retail business, whether the retail business is retained or sold.

Financial and manpower implications

The additional work required in developing a telecommunications strategy based on the schedule to the original proposition can be absorbed within the existing resources of the Chief Minister's Department.
