REPORT

The Minister for Home Affairs presents the following statistics for the year 2015 –

  1. Statement as to the number of births and deaths, marriages and civil partnerships registered in the 12 parishes of the Island during 2015.

  1. When  the  various  re-registrations1 are  deducted  from  the  official  birth registrations shown above, the number of children born in the Island in 2015 was 997.
  2. There were no stillbirths in the Island in 2015.
  3. The  number  of  marriages  performed  in  the  Office  of  the  Superintendent Registrar in 2015 was 174. This was 6 less than in the previous year. A further 195 civil marriages were celebrated in Approved Premises, 9 more than in the previous year. The most popular months for marriages, including Anglican marriages, were August (90), July (84) and September (56).
  4. During the year, 104 couples came tothe Island to be married by licence of the Superintendent Registrar. This is 10 more than in the previous year. The most popular months for visitors were August (26) and July (21).
  5. The number of deaths registered in 2015 was 778, 96 more than in the previous year.

Law 2001 (under Article 56, to add a natural father's name; or under Article 57, following marriage) or following an Act of the Royal Court, usually a decree of legitimacy.

  1. In 2015, there were 13 civil partnership ceremonies (exactly the same number as the previous year), which included 3 couples who came to the Island for their ceremony.
