STATES OF JERSEY
LAND TRANSACTIONS UNDER STANDING ORDER 168(3) – BERMUDA HOUSE, GREEN STREET, ST. HELIER – LEASE-IN
Presented to the States on 21st June 2018 by the Minister for Infrastructure
STATES GREFFE
2018 R.77

REPORT
Decision(s): Under Standing Order 168(3) the Minister for Infrastructure hereby notifies the States that he has accepted the recommendation of the Property Holdings Department to agree to the following –
Land transaction –
For the Public of the Island of Jersey to enter into a new 9 year lease of Bermuda House, Green Street, St. Helier , for occupation by Skills Jersey and other functions of the Public of the Island of Jersey; and to rescind decision reference MD-PH-2018-0026.
The existing premises are unsuitable to the future needs of Skills Jersey and it is not possible to house this function in any of the existing Public-owned property. In addition to this, it was further determined that the Public had need for additional space to be available for use, in order to meet the needs of the Office Modernisation Programme.
Leasing-in Bermuda House is therefore deemed the best use of the Public's resources in order to allow Skills Jersey to continue providing their services for the Island, and to meet the wider needs of the Public of Jersey.
The Minister hereby authorises, as applicable, the Attorney General and the Greffier of the States to pass any contract which is required to be passed on behalf of the Public; and the Director of Property Holdings to conclude any contract which is required to be concluded on behalf of the Public.
After the expiry of 15 days following presentation to the States the transaction may be concluded.
