Background
The Jersey Advisory and Conciliation (Jersey) Law 2003 provides that the Board of the Jersey Advisory and Conciliation Service (the "JACS Board") shall consist of not more than 7 members who must not be Members of the States. The Law also provides that new members must be selected and appointed by the Board, subject to the approval of the Minister, and the Minister must inform the States of any such appointment.
Membership
Sarah Beirne, former Chairman, retired from the Board effective from 29th September 2020. Alison Mellor retired from the Board effective from 29th September 2020. Advocate Zoe Blomfield will retire from the Board effective from 28th February 2021.
The following members will remain on the Board:
• Donna Abel – Chairman, effective 29th September 2020;
• Lynda Vautier;
• Jimmy McCormack; and
• Sara Garwood.
Recruitment
The 3 positions on the Board were advertised via the JACS newsletter and an open recruitment process was undertaken with interviews conducted by 2 Board members: Donna Abel and Advocate Zoe Blomfield.
The following applicants were successful:
• Chris Mutton (Trackers, Skills Jersey);
• Hilary Griffin (Self-employed, legally qualified); and
• Hannah Gauvin (HR Relationship Manager).
It is considered that the proposed new members will bring valuable knowledge and experience to the JACS Board.
The Social Security Minister has approved the appointments and the Board will appoint the members, each for a 4-year term. Hilary Griffin and Chris Mutton will be appointed from 12th October 2020 and Hannah Gauvin from 28th February 2021.
The Minister would like to thank the retiring Chairman and Members for their contribution to the JACS Board, as well as the current Members for their continued commitment to JACS.
