The Establishment Committee supports the proposed formation of a Home Affairs Committee and has agreed the allocation of three new posts to that Committee should it be formed, with the proviso that the three pending retirements of Defence Committee employees are not replaced. Any further staffing requirements will either need to be filled from within the existing Defence Committee manpower complement or provided by the corporate departments. Two of the posts awarded are to be recruited on three-year contracts and the Committee expects additional manpower savings to be achieved by efficiency savings once the support service is functioning.
