The Finance and Economics Committee supports the creation of a Housing Development Fund to be administered by this Committee and a corresponding report and proposition of this Committee has been lodged for discussion in conjunction with P.74/99. The Committee, however, does not support sub-paragraphs 3 and 4 of this proposition, which asks the States to rescind their decision that Westley Court, Westley Lodge and Maison Le Fondré should be sold to a housing trust as originally proposed. The Committee is of the opinion that, because of the pressure on States cash reserves, every opportunity to involve agencies such as housing trusts should be welcomed.
