COMMENTS

The Finance and Economics Committee supports this proposition and will ensure that any revenue arising from increases in parking charges over and above the cost of provision will be allocated for transport initiatives.

Full funding for the bus service in 2005 is already included in the cash limit of the Environment and Public Services Committee in anticipation of funding being secured for increased parking charges. However, the Finance and Economics Committee will ensure that any increase in expenditure funded out of the taxation will be contained within the States' overall spending limits.
