PRIVATE HOSPITAL DEVELOPMENT: SCRUTINY REVIEW (P.221/2005) – COMMENTS
Presented to the States on 14th February 2006 by the Council of Ministers
STATES GREFFE
COMMENTS
The Council of Ministers does not support the proposal that the Social Affairs Scrutiny Panel and the Public Accounts Committee should undertake a review of the proposed private hospital development at Kensington Place, St. Helier .
The Council endorses the view expressed by the Minister for Health and Social Services that the proposal to develop a private hospital is without merit, and it therefore does not consider that a scrutiny review would represent a productive use of public funds.
In making these comments, the Council of Ministers fully accepts that scrutiny panels are entitled to carry out reviews into matters that they consider to be deserving of investigation.
