THE STATES, subject to the sanction of Her Most Excellent Majesty  in  Council,  adopted  a  Law  entitled  the  Barclays  Bank (Jersey) Law, 1984.

Belleville, St. Aubin – rejection of drawing.

THE  STATES  rejected  a  Proposition  of  the  Housing Committee –

242   Price : 35p.

  1. approve Drawing No. 2794-5 showing the conversion of Belleville, St. Aubin to provide two two-bedroomed maisonettes;
  2. authorise the Greffier of the States to sign the said Drawing on behalf of the States.

Public Lotteries Board – appointment of member.

THE STATES, adopting a Proposition of the Gambling Control Committee, appointed Mr. John Clennett as a Member of the Public Lotteries Board, for a period of five years from the date of appointment, in pursuance of Regulation 3 of the Gambling (Channel Islands Lottery) (Jersey) Regulations, 1975, as amended.

Field 107, Maufant, St. Saviour : lease.

THE STATES, adopting a Proposition of the Island Development Committee –

  1. approved the leasing of Field 107, Maufant, St. Saviour , measuring about 18.4 vergées, and as shown on drawing number 02.134.1, to Mr. Andrew Le Gallais and Mr. Paul Houzé, for a period of 25 years on the following terms and conditions –
  1. the period between the signing of the lease and Christmas, 1984, to be rent free;
  2. thereafter, for a period of ten years to Christmas, 1994, the field to be leased at a nominal rent of £10 per vergée per annum;
  3. thereafter, the rent to be agreed at the market rate for agricultural land, subject to review each three years;
  4. the granting of financial assistance to the lessees of up to a maximum of £3,000 towards the costs still to be incurred in restoring the land to agricultural condition;
  1. authorised the Attorney General and the Greffier of the States to pass the necessary contract in the matter;
  2. authorised the Treasurer of the States to receive the rent as it became due.

Deputy John Le Gallais of St. Saviour , having declared an interest in the matter, withdrew from the Chamber.

Recruitment from United Kingdom of staff for the Island Development Committee.

THE STATES rejected a Proposition of Senator Richard Joseph Shenton to request the Establishment Committee not to proceed with the recruitment from the United Kingdom of staff for the Island Development Committee until such time as the States had had an opportunity of debating the matter.
