THE STATES, having accepted an amendment of Deputy Robin Ernest Richard Rumboll of St. Helier that after the words "need for legislation" there should be inserted the words "and any other measures", adopted a Proposition of Deputy Michael Adam Wavell of St. Helier that the Legislation Committee, in consultation with the Public Health and Education Committees, should examine the need for legislation and any other measures to deal with problems arising from solvent abuse, and report in due course to the States with recommendations.

THE STATES, adopting a Proposition of the Island Development Committee –
- agreed to acquire from Le Brun's Limited the freehold of its property at Brighton Road, St. Helier , comprising a site area of18,600 square feet and the freehold of its property at 40 Columbus Street, St. Helier , comprising a site area of1,700 square feet, both as shown hatched on Drawing No. 01.176.1, together with the leasehold interest on premises situated at Springfield, St. Helier , owned by Springfield Entertainments Limited, having site areas of6,980 and 2,000 square feet respectively, as shown hatched on Drawing No. 01.176.2, for a total consideration of £1,375,500 including a sum to assist the Company to relocate its business at the Rue des Prés Trading Estate, St. Saviour , with each party paying its own legal fees;
- authorised the Attorney General and the Greffier of the States to pass the necessary contracts in the matter;
- authorised the Treasurer of the States to pay the aforesaid sum out of Vote C.0904 "Acquisition of Land (Major Reserve)"; and
- authorised the Island Development Committee to transfer to the Housing Committee the administration of those areas shown hatched on Drawing No. 01.176.1 for residential development.
