Matters noted – land transactions.
THE STATES noted an Act of the Finance and Economics Committee, dated 17th August 1987, showing that in pursuance of Standing Orders relating to certain transactions in land, the Committee had approved –
- as recommended by the Education Committee, the leasing from Mr. Martyn Alan Manning of the property "Dajong", 9, Clos Verte, Victoria Village, Trinity , required for the purpose of staff accommodation, for a period of two years with effect from 1st August, 1987, at a weekly rent of £120;
- as recommended by the Education Committee, the grant to The Jersey Electricity Company Limited of a contract servitude in perpetuity in respect of two electrical cable ducts for high tension wires across the site of the new Library, Halkett Place, St. Helier , for a nominal consideration of £10, with the company's being responsible for the payment of legal fees and bearing the cost of any additional charges incurred by the contractor building the new Library;
- as recommended by the Public Works Committee, the purchase from Mrs. Margaret Marie Gallichan, née Adams, of the property No. 7, Green Street, St. Helier , required for road improvement purposes, for a consideration of £36,750 for the realty, with the Committee's being responsible for the payment of all legal fees;
- as recommended by the Island Development Committee, the lease to Angora Agencies of Nos. 2 and 2½ Anley Street, St. Helier , from 24th June, 1987, to 23rd June, 1995, at an annual rent of £6,983, subject to reviews every three years based on the increase in the Jersey cost of living index;
- as recommended by the Housing Committee, the granting to Partina Limited of a servitude to allow the company right of vehicular access to at all times and for all purposes and the right to connect all the Committee's services at La Grande Pièce, to the six new houses and garages at La Petite Pièce, La Grande Route de St. Pierre, St. Peter , for the sum of £6,500, with the company's being responsible for the payment of all legal fees;
- as recommended by the Harbours and Airport Committee, the renewal of the lease to Mr. David John Huelin of Le Bouillon, Rue des Landes, St. Brelade , of Field No. 779 situated on the northern end of Les Landes (known as Letting L70) and measuring 4 vergées, for a further period of three years, with effect from 1st January, 1988, at an annual rent of £160.

THE STATES noted an Act of the Finance and Economics Committee, dated 17th August, 1987, showing that in pursuance of Rule 5 of the Public Finances (General) (Jersey) Rules, 1967, as amended, the Committee had noted that the Housing Committee had accepted the lowest of five tenders, namely that submitted by A.C. Mauger and Son (Sunwin) Limited in the sum of £1,094,338 in a construction period of 60 weeks for the construction of 32 units of States' rental accommodation at Clos Gosset.

Public Employees' Pension Increases: calculation. P.124/87.
THE STATES, adopting a Proposition of the Establishment Committee, agreed that at the end of paragraph (f) of the Act dated 11th July, 1972, (R & O 5693) revising pensions payable to retired public employees, there should be added the words "such increase in the first calendar year of retirement being calculated at the rate of one three hundred and sixty-fifth of the amount of the annual pension for each day in the preceding year that the pension had been payable".
