The following enactments were laid before the States, namely –

  1. Destructive  Insects  and  Pests  (Amendment)  (Jersey) Order, 1987. R & O 7638.
  2. Public Rank Taxis (Fares and Charges) (Amendment No. 3) (Jersey) Order, 1987. R & O 7639.

Regulation of Undertakings and Development: report for 1986. R.C.10.

The Finance and Economics Committee by Act dated 26th May, 1987,  presented  to  the  States  a  Report  on  the  Regulation  of Undertakings and Development for 1986.

THE  STATES  ordered  that  the  said  Report  be  printed  and distributed.

Presented by the Public Health Committee. The States decided to take this subject into consideration on 23rd June, 1987.

Jersey Electricity Company Limited: resignation of Senator R.J. Shenton, Director. Statement.

The President of the Finance and Economics Committee made a Statement in the following terms –

"I wish to notify the States that Senator Richard Joseph Shenton has resigned as a States' nominated Director of The Jersey Electricity Company Limited, because of his overall commitments and possible future conflict of interests.

The  Finance  and  Economics  Committee will, in due course, recommend to the States the appointment of a Director to fill the vacancy on the Board."

Health Services: development policies. P.76/87.

THE STATES commenced consideration of a Proposition of the Public Health Committee regarding the development policies for the Health Services 1988–92. Having accepted an amendment of Senator Betty Brooke that in paragraph 6, Alcoholism and Drug Abuse, after the words "Paragraph 7.1" there should be added "and Paragraph 8.2 of the Appendix", and having subsequently accepted an amendment of Senator John Stephen Rothwell that the words "Paragraph 7.1 and" be deleted and that after the figures "8.2" there should be inserted "(a) and (b)(i)", the States adopted the Proposition and approved, in principle, the key policies for the

development of Health Services for the period 1988–92 as outlined in the following paragraphs of the Report "A Plan for the Health Services in Jersey 1988–92"

  2. Acute Care Services
  3. Services for Elderly People
  4. Services for People with a Mental Handicap
  5. Services for People with Mental Illness
  6. Alcoholism and Drug Abuse
  7. Resources – Finance, Manpower and Land Adjournment.

THE STATES adjourned during the consideration of paragraph 6 of the previous Proposition and re-assembled under the Presidency of the Deputy Bailiff , Vernon Amy Tomes, Esquire.
