THE STATES assembled on Tuesday, 15th November, 1988 at 10.15 a.m. under the Presidency of the Deputy Bailiff , Vernon Amy Tomes, Esquire. ____________

Etat Civil Committee: appointment of President.

There were nominated for appointment as President of the Etat Civil Committee –

Senator Betty Brooke – proposed by Senator Richard Joseph Shenton.

Arthur Philip Querée, Connétable of St. Ouen proposed by Senator Jean Amy Le Maistre.

THE  STATES  having  proceeded  to  a  secret  ballot,  the   Bailiff declared that the Connétable of St. Ouen had been elected President of the Etat Civil Committee.

Occupation and Liberation Committee: proposals. P.147/88. Presented by the Occupation and Liberation Committee. The States decided to take this subject into consideration on 29th November, 1988.

THE STATES noted that the President of the Occupation and Liberation Committee had withdrawn the Proposition regarding proposals for memorials and for the future celebration of Liberation Day (lodged on 11th October, 1988) having lodged a revised Proposition at the present Sitting (P.147/88).

Industrial Disputes Tribunal: appointment of Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Panels. P.148/88.

THE STATES commenced consideration of a Proposition of the Legislation Committee regarding the appointment of a Chairman, Deputy Chairman and Panels of the Industrial Disputes Tribunal. After discussion, and on the proposition of Senator Jean Amy Le Maistre, the Proposition was lodged "au Greffe".

Weighbridge area and Albert Pier: reclamation site – first phase: rescission of Acts of the States (P.37/88). P.105/88.

THE STATES rejected a Proposition of Senator John Stephen Rothwell that they rescind their Acts, dated 19th April and 7th June, 1988, respectively, in which they approved the proposals of the Island Development Committee in relation to the first phase of development of the Weighbridge area and the Albert Pier reclamation site.
