Senator S. Syvret - statement by the Bailiff . The Bailiff made the following statement -
Most members will know that Senator
S yvret laid a formal complaint with the
H ome Secretary arising out of his
s uspension by the States on 3rd September. I am able to tell the House that I have
b een informed by his Excellency that a
l etter was sent to Senator Syvret on 11th
D ecember rejecting that complaint. I
e xpress the hope that Mr. Syvret will now f eel able to comply with the resolution of
t he States requiring him to withdraw the
o ffending allegation against a former
m ember. In any event I consider that the
H ouse should have the opportunity to re-
e xamine the position of Senator Syvret
e arly in the next session and I am having
d iscussions with my consultative panel to
t hat end.''
