Shadow Public A1. The Committee, with reference to its Act No. A4 of 24th February 2005, Accounts recalled that it had agreed to assume an oversight rôle in connexion with the Shadow Committee: Public Accounts Committee pending the onset of ministerial government. It further appointment of recalled that on 24th May 2005, the States had agreed that the Committee should be members. responsible for appointing independent members to the Shadow Public Accounts 570/1(2) Committee, following consultation with the Finance and Economics Committee, for
the remainder of the shadow period (Projet No. P.75/2005 refers).

G.O.S. The Committee considered a report concerning the proposed appointment of Mr. C. Scrutiny Evans as an independent member to the Shadow Public Accounts Committee. It was T.O.S. explained that an advertisement placed in the Jersey Gazette had attracted four C.I.Aud. applicants. Each applicant had been assessed in accordance with a process formulated F.E.C.C. with assistance from both the Jersey Appointments Commission and the Institute of
Directors. Mindful that the position was an honorary post and that the candidate would only be in post until December 2005, the curriculum vitae and correspondence were dealt with by Deputy S.C. Ferguson in her capacity as Shadow Chairman of the Shadow Public Accounts Committee. The preferred applicant had been selected on the basis of his extensive IT knowledge and his business development experience within that industry.
The Committee endorsed the report and agreed that, subject to the endorsement of the Finance and Economics Committee, it should appoint Mr. C. Evans to the Shadow Public Accounts Committee on the understanding that his term of office would cease on 31st December 2005.
The Committee Clerk was directed to take the necessary action and the Greffier of the States was requested to send a copy of this Act to the Finance and Economics Committee.
