Tribute to the late Mr. Charles Binet Ahier , former member of the States

The Bailiff paid tribute to the late Mr.  Charles Binet Ahier , former Deputy and Connétable of Trinity . The States observed one minute's silence as a mark of respect.

Appointment of Ministers

The Chief Minister designate announced, in the order in which he wished the States to vote on them, his intended nominations for Ministerial office and his proposals as to the Ministerial office to which each nominee would be assigned, as follows

THE STATES, in accordance with Standing Order 117, appointed Ministers as follows – Minister for Treasury and Resources

S e nator Terence Augustine Le  Sueur was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Terence Augustine Le  Sueur had been duly elected as the Minister for Treasury and Resources.

Minister for Economic Development

S e nator Philip Francis Cyril Ozouf was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Philip Francis Cyril Ozouf had been duly elected as the Minister for Economic Development.

Minister for Education, Sport and Culture

S e nator Michael Edward Vibert was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Michael Edward Vibert had been duly elected as the Minister for Education, Sport and Culture.

Minister for Social Security

S e nator Paul Francis Routier was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Paul Francis Routier had been duly elected as the Minister for Social Security.

Minister for Health and Social Services.

S e nator Stuart Syvret was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Stuart Syvret had been duly elected as the Minister for Health and Social Services.

Minister for Home Affairs

S e nator Wendy Kinnard was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Wendy Kinnard had been duly elected as the Minister for Home Affairs.

Minister for Planning and Environment

S e n at or Frederick Ellyer Cohen was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Frederick Ellyer Cohen had been duly elected as the Minister for Planning and Environment.

Minister for Transport and Technical Services

S e nator Leonard Norman was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

D eputy Guy William John de Faye of St. Helier was nominated by Deputy Sarah Craig Ferguson o

St.  Brelade.

In accordance with Standing Order 117, each candidate made a speech and was questioned prior to a ballot being held.

THE STATES, having proceeded to a secret ballot, were informed of the following results by the Bailiff S e nator Leonard Norman   2 0   D e puty Guy William John de  Faye of St.  Helie r 3 1  

The Bailiff accordingly declared that Deputy Guy William John de  Faye of St.  Helier had been duly elected as th Minister for Transport and Technical Services.

The Bailiff invited the Chief Minister designate to make a further announcement of his remaining nomination and proposal for assignment to the remaining Ministerial office. The Chief Minister designate maintained his earlier proposal.

Minister for Housing

S e nator Terence John Le  Main was nominated by the Chief Minister designate.

There being no other nominations as a Minister and assigned to the Ministerial office proposed, the Bailiff declared that Senator Terence John Le  Main had been duly elected as the Minister for Housing.

Appointment of the Chairman of the Privileges and Procedures Committee

D e puty Geoffrey Peter Southern of St.  Helier was nominated by Senator Stuart Syvret.

T h e Connétable of St.  Clement was nominated by Deputy John Benjamin Fox of St.  Helier. D e puty Roy George Le  Hérissier of St.  Saviour was nominated by the Deputy of St.  Martin.

In accordance with Standing Order 118, each candidate made a speech and was questioned prior to a ballot being held.

THE STATES, having proceeded to a secret ballot, were informed of the following results by the Bailiff

Appointment of the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee

D e puty Sarah Craig Ferguson of St.  Brelade was nominated by Senator Stuart Syvret.

D e puty Alan Breckon of St.  Saviour was nominated by Deputy Roy George Le  Hérissier of St.  Saviour.

In accordance with Standing Order 119, each candidate made a speech and was questioned prior to a ballot being held.

Appointment of Chairman of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel

S e nator Ben Edward Shenton was nominated by Senator Stuart Syvret.

D e puty Patrick John Dennis Ryan of St.  Helier was nominated by the Connétable of St.  Lawrence.

In accordance with Standing Order 120, each candidate made a speech and was questioned prior to a ballot being held.

THE STATES, having proceeded to a secret ballot, were informed of the following results by the Greffier

The Greffier accordingly declared that Deputy Patrick John Dennis Ryan of St.  Helier had been duly appointed as the Chairman of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel.

Change in Presidency

The Bailiff retired from the Chair during the appointment of the Chairman of the Corporate Services Scrutiny Panel and the meeting continued under the Presidency of Mr.  Michael Nelson de  la Haye, Greffier of the States.

Appointment of Chairman of the Economic Affairs Scrutiny Panel

D eputy Geoffrey Peter Southern of St. Helier was nominated by Deputy Robert Charles Duhamel of

St.  Saviour.

There being no other nominations as Chairman, the Greffier declared that Deputy Geoffrey Peter Southern of St.  Helier had been duly appointed as the Chairman of the Economic Affairs Scrutiny Panel.

Appointment of Chairman of the Social Affairs Scrutiny Panel

T h e Deputy of St.  Martin was nominated by the Connétable of St.  Martin.

There being no other nominations as Chairman, the Greffier declared that the Deputy of St.  Martin had been duly appointed as the Chairman of the Social Affairs Scrutiny Panel.

Appointment of Chairman of the Environment Scrutiny Panel

D e puty Robert Charles Duhamel of St.  Saviour was nominated by the Connétable of St.  Mary

There being no other nominations as Chairman, the Greffier declared that the Deputy Robert Charles Duhamel of St.  Saviour had been duly appointed as the Chairman of the Environment Scrutiny Panel.
