Composition and A1.  The  Committee,  with  reference  to  its  Minute  No.  B1  of  31st  May  2006, election of the resumed consideration of the proposed survey of public opinion on electoral reform. States - opinion

survey on The Committee recalled that a total of six organisations had been written to seeking electoral reform. expressions of interest to undertake the survey. It was noted that four organisations 465/1(75) had submitted proposals  for undertaking the survey and  it was  decided that  the

Committee would peruse the papers submitted and convene a meeting for Tuesday 13th June 2006 to decide which company it would engage to carry out the survey.

The Committee was advised that Senator M.E. Vibert had suggested that in order to enable the Committee to make a more informed decision it could be beneficial to get the views of the Statistics Unit on the individual bids submitted. The Committee, whilst  recognising  that  it  had  a  tight  time  schedule  to  adhere  to  and  having considered  the  suggestion  of  Senator   Vibert ,  agreed  that  it  would  request  the Statistics Unit to comment on the proposals provided the process did not result in its decision being delayed.

The Greffier of the States was requested to take the necessary action.
