Retirement of His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor (see Official Report)
Senator Stuart Syvret, on behalf of all States members, paid tribute to the work and service of His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire, K.B.E., C.B. and Lady Cheshire during his term of office in Jersey and wished them a happy retirement.
His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor, Air Chief Marshal Sir John Cheshire, K.B.E., C.B. responded to Senator Stuart Syvret's speech and expressed his and Lady Cheshire's gratitude to the people of the Island during his term of office.
The Bailiff notified members that Sir John and Lady Cheshire were to be presented with a marble fire surround engraved with the arms of the Bailiwick, to which Sir John expressed his and Lady Cheshire's sincere thanks.
