Minutes. A1. The Minutes of the meeting held on 31st October 2007 (Part A and Part B),
having been previously circulated, were taken as read and were confirmed.
Meeting dates in A2. The Committee, having considered a list of proposed meeting dates for 2008, 2008. agreed to set aside dates at two-weekly intervals commencing on 23rd January 2008 Encl. for its meetings on the basis that it would conduct monthly meetings with the
alternate dates only being utilized as necessary.
Public Elections A3. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. A5 of 11th July 2007, (Jersey) Law received a report detailing proposed recommendations for changes to the Public 2002 - proposed Elections (Jersey) Law 2002.

424/2(3) The Committee recalled that a working group under the Chairmanship of Deputy J. Encl. Gallichan had been established to consider in more detail the proposed
recommendations for changes to the Public Elections (Jersey) Law 2002. The working group had also referred a number of matters to the Comité des Connétable s for its consideration.
The Committee discussed in detail the proposed amendments to the Public Elections (Jersey) Law 2002 and having made various recommendations agreed that the issues it had raised should be referred to the working party for further consideration.
Deputy Gallichan was directed to take the necessary action.
Draft A4. The Committee received and considered the draft Amendment (No. 8) of the Amendment (No. Standing Orders of the States of Jersey (P.162/2007 - lodged au Greffe' on 23rd 8) of the October 2007 by Senator M.E. Vibert ). Standing Orders
of the States of The Committee noted that, if adopted, the proposition would ensure that any Jersey proposed change to the composition and election of the States should at least 450/2(8). command an absolute majority of States members, that is at least one half of all
States members, which was currently 27 members. Whilst the majority of the Committee supported the proposition it was agreed that a comment would be issued advising that it was considered to be a matter for each individual States member to decide whether or not to support the proposition.
The Greffier of the States was directed to take the necessary action.
Matters for A5. T he Committee noted the following matters for information -
information.
- co rrespondence, dated 2nd November 2007, sent to Mr. A. Podger regarding proposals for electoral reform; and
- cor respondence, dated 22nd November 2007, sent to All Members of the States regarding the provision of photographic identification;
- t he Committee noted that its next meeting would be held on 12th December 2007, commencing at 9.30 a.m. in the Le Capelain Room, States Building, Royal Square.
