Terms of Office A1. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. B2 of 3rd October 2007 for Elected received and considered a draft statement in connexion with the reform of the Members. composition and election of the States.

The Committee recalled that it had agreed that it would bring forward the necessary legislation to give effect to recent States decisions to elect all Connétable s on a single day and extend the term of office of Connétable and Deputy to 4 years from 2008. The Committee further agreed that it would propose a reduction in the term of office for Senator to four years and also a reduction in the number of Senators from 12 to 8. The Committee had agreed that a statement outlining its decision would be made by the Chairman at the next sitting of the States Assembly.
In this regard the Committee considered a draft Statement and having agreed a number of revisions approved the same and requested the Chairman to present it to the States on 9th October 2007.
