Composition and A1.  The  Committee,  with  reference  to  its  Minute  No.  A2  of  27th  July  2010 election of the received a revised draft report and proposition in connexion with the composition and States. election of the States.

1240/22/1(50)

The draft proposition would, if adopted, enable the States to facilitate a move to a Spring election and to introduce a 4-year term of office for States members. The proposition as previously drafted had proposed a reduction in the number of Senators from 12 to 10 in 2011. The Committee had, at its last meeting, requested that the draft proposition be amended to include a further reduction in the number of Senators from 10 to 8 in October 2014 and thereby establish a general election in May 2019 and every 4 years thereafter. The Committee noted that the necessary amendments had been made to the draft proposition so as to incorporate these changes.

Having considered the revised report and proposition entitled: Composition of the States: Spring election and move to a 4-year term of office, the Committee approved the same, and requested that it be lodged "au Greffe" in early course for debate by the States.

The Greffier of the States was requested to take the necessary action.
