Liberation Day – thanks

The Bailiff , on behalf of all members, thanked those involved in the organisation of the recent Liberation Day celebrations, particularly the tea party for over 1,300 pensioners at the Royal Jersey Agricultural and Horticultural Society Headquarters. The Connétable of St. Ouen , on behalf of all members, extended thanks to the Bailiff and his team for making the 65th anniversary of the Liberation such a success.

Jersey Rugby Club Success

The Bailiff , on behalf of all members, congratulated the Jersey Rugby Club on their recent National III League Championship success at Twickenham.

THE STATES noted the resignation of Deputy P.V.F. Le Claire of St. Helier from the Environment Scrutiny Panel.

Appointment of a member of the Privileges and Procedures Committee

In accordance with Standing Order 122, the Connétable of St. Mary , Chairman of the Privileges and Procedures Committee, nominated the Connétable of St. Saviour as a member of the Privileges and Procedures Committee.

Deputy Trevor Mark Pitman of St. Helier was nominated by Deputy Michael Roderick Higgins of St. Helier .

THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of the Public Accounts Committee to refer to their Act dated 5th October 2009 in which they approved the Annual Business Plan 2010 and, inter alia, approved the indicative total Net Revenue Expenditure for the States funded bodies, as set out in Part Three of the report Summary Table C as amended for the period 2011 to 2014, and requested the Chief Minister to present Annual Business Plans to the States within these indicative total amounts; and to request the Chief Minister to prepare and lodge for approval draft Annual Business Plans limiting total net revenue expenditure for the States funded bodies, calculated on the basis shown in the financial forecasts, (namely after the Net Revenue Expenditure Allocation has been adjusted for the Repayment of Capital Debt), to a sum not exceeding –

  1. £580.45 million in respect of 2011; and;
  2. £551.43 million in respect of 2012.
