States of  A1. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. A1 of 9th August 2012, Jersey  recalled that it had presented to the States a report prepared by the States of Jersey Complaints  Complaints Board in connexion with its findings in respect of a complaint against Board:  a decision of the Minister for Education, Sport and Culture (R.102/2012 refers). findings.

1386/2/1/3(18) The  Committee  received  correspondence,  dated  23rd  August  2012,  from  the

Minister for Education, Sport and Culture.

The Committee noted that the Minister disagreed with several points made within the summary and findings of the Complaints Board. He had nevertheless decided to grant the application for the child to transfer to Les Quennevais School, having concluded that such a transfer would be in the child's best interests and that the child could be accommodated by that school.

The  Committee,  acting  in  accordance  with  Article  9(9)  of  the  Administrative Decisions (Review) (Jersey) Law 1982, agreed that the response of the Minister for Education, Sport and Culture should be presented to the States forthwith.

The Greffier of the States was requested to take the necessary action.

States  A2. The Committee considered a report prepared by the Greffier of the States Assembly  and which was entitled: States Meeting Dates for 2013.'

meeting dates

2013. The Committee noted that, in accordance with Standing Order 4 of the Standing 1240/2(82) Orders of the States of Jersey, it was required to draft a list of proposed meeting dates for presentation to the States by the end of September. A fortnightly cycle of

of  the  Standing  Orders  and  Internal  Procedures  Sub-Committee,  which  had decided against pursuing a 3 week cycle. The draft schedule took account of the in  principle'  decision  of  the  Committee  as  previously  constituted  that  States meetings should not take place during school holidays.

The Committee approved the dates proposed and agreed that the report should be presented to the States forthwith.

The Greffier of the States was requested to take the necessary action.

States  A3. The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. A2 of 25th April 2012, Members'  recalled  that  on  12th  July  2012  the  States  Assembly  had  adopted  P.44/2012 Remuneration  (States Members Remuneration Review Body: Revised Terms of Reference'). Review Body:

appointment of  The Committee considered a report, dated 28th August 2012, which had been members. prepared by the Greffier of the States and which was entitled: States Members 1240/3(73) Remuneration Review Body (SMRRB) – Appointment of Members.'

It was recalled that the revised terms of reference for the SMRRB permitted the Committee to appoint members of that body once the Committee had given the States 15 days notice of its intention to make such appointments.

The  Committee  was  advised  that  a  recruitment  process  had  been  initiated following the approval of P.44/2012,  in an attempt to identify one new member to serve on the SMRRB. No applications had been received and a decision had been taken to re-advertise after the peak summer holiday period. In the intervening period, there remained a need to formally confirm the position of the existing outgoing members.

The Committee approved the appended report relating to the re-appointment of the 4 current members in accordance  with P.44/2012 and requested that it be presented  to  the  States  as  soon  as  possible  so  that  re-appointments  could be confirmed  15  days  after  the  notification  (on  the  assumption  that  no  adverse comment from States members was received).  It further endorsed the proposal to re-advertise the vacant position.

The Greffier of the States was requested to take the necessary action.
