THE STATES acceded to a request by Deputy Montfort Tadier of St. Brelade , in accordance with Standing Order 69(4), that paragraph (b) of his proposition be withdrawn.

Following the rejection of paragraph (a) and the withdrawal of paragraph (b), the Deputy Bailiff informed the Assembly that paragraph (c) of the proposition was also deemed to have been withdrawn.

Arrangement of public business for the present meeting

THE STATES, approving a request of the Minister for External Relations, in accordance with Standing Order 26(7), agreed to reduce the minimum lodging period in respect of the proposition entitled Brexit Report: steps taken by the Government of Jersey before Notification by the Government of the United Kingdom under Article 50 of the UK's intention to withdraw from the EU' (P.7/2017), in order that it might be debated at the present meeting.

THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of the Minister for External Relations entitled Brexit Report: steps taken by the Government of Jersey before Notification by the Government of the United Kingdom under Article 50 of the UK's intention to withdraw from the EU' (P.7/2017) and, adopting the proposition, recognised that the Government of the United Kingdom was likely to issue a notice under Article 50 of the Treaty on European Union to withdraw from the European Union; and endorsed the Council of Ministers' intention to propose the repeal of the European Union (Jersey) Law 1973.

The Very Reverend Dean of Jersey – retirement

The Deputy Bailiff and the Chairman of the Privileges and Procedures Committee, on behalf of all members, paid tribute to the service which The Very Reverend Robert Frederick Key, B.A., had given to the Island and the States during his term of office as the Dean of Jersey and wished him, and Mrs. Key, the very best in their future endeavours. The Dean of Jersey responded accordingly.
