Standing  A1.  The Committee, with reference to its Minute No. B6 of 5th December 2017, Orders:  recalled that it had previously approved a draft Amendment to Standing Orders, to Answers to  give  effect to the  Proposition of Deputy G.P. Southern of St. Helier, entitled Questions  Standing Orders: Answers to Questions' (P.25/2017), which had been adopted by (P.25/2017).  the States Assembly on 23rd May 2017.

The Committee further recalled that it had been decided that the requirement for answers to be directly relevant to questions should also extend to written questions and that it had approved a policy under Standing Order 160 that any written material, which was circulated after the meeting of the States, but was directly relevant to the proceedings thereof, could, at the request of the Greffier, be incorporated into the official transcript of the meeting if it was considered necessary, or beneficial, so to do.

The Committee was mindful that, at its meeting on 5th December 2017, it had instructed  officers  to  prepare  a  Report  to  accompany  the  draft  Amendment. Accordingly, it received and approved a Report, prepared by the Assistant Greffier and requested him to arrange for the draft Amendment to be lodged au Greffe' for debate in due course, once the Law Draftsman's Office had undertaken the relevant internal checks.
