Draft  A1. The Committee, with reference to Minute No. A1 of 5th March 2021, received Constitution of  and considered a draft comments paper in relation to a number of amendments to the the States and  proposition entitled Electoral Reform – approval for lodging: Draft Constitution of the Election  States and Election (Jersey) Law 202-' (P.17/2021).

202-  The Committee noted that two amendments had been lodged au Greffe' by Senator I.J (P.17/2021) –   Gorst which included changes pertaining to the date of the 2022 general election, the Presentation of  term of office for States Members (Amendment) and the Senatorial roles (Second Comments.  Amendment). Furthermore, the Committee noted that an amendment to the second

amendment had been lodged au Greffe' by Senator L.J. Farnham which proposed to increase the number of Deputies from 28 to 31, thereby increasing the total number of States Members from 48 to 51.

The Committee approved the comments paper and requested the Principal Committee and Panel Officer to make the necessary arrangements for it to be presented to the Assembly as soon as practicable.
