The Committee, with reference to Minute No. B6 of its meeting of 24th January Elections 2022, received and considered a draft Proposition entitled Draft Public Elections (Donations to (Donations to Political Parties - Threshold Amount) (Jersey) Regulations 202-'. The Political Committee recalled that it was required to determine the threshold amount of a Parties - reportable donation' to a political party and to specify the amount in Regulations for Threshold States Assembly approval.
Amount)
(Jersey) The Committee had previously agreed that the matter should be referred to the Jersey Regulations Electoral Authority (JEA). The JEA had discussed the threshold amount during its 202- Approval meeting on 26th January 2022 and determined that it should be set at £500 and that any for lodging donations under this amount would not be regarded as reportable'. The Committee also
noted that it would be an offence to attempt to evade the controls on donations, for instance, by donating more than £500 via multiple small payments.
The Committee approved the Proposition and requested the Principal Committee and Panel Officer to make the necessary arrangements for it to be lodged au Greffe' as soon as practicable.
