Standing Order 55A – remote participation

THE STATES, with reference to their Act dated 14th September 2021, in which they had agreed that, notwithstanding Standing Order 55A(1), members who did not wish to attend in the States Chamber might continue to take part in States meetings using Microsoft Teams (until the States had considered and voted upon a proposition to re-apply Standing Order 55A(1) or to repeal or vary the terms of the Standing Order), assembled in accordance with Standing Order 55A with members able to participate remotely using Microsoft Teams.

The Connétable of St. John asked the following question of the Minister for Treasury and Resources which the Bailiff had allowed in accordance with Standing Order 15 relating to urgent oral questions –

"In view of the apparent disparity between the Minister's comments in debate on P.18/2022 on the timing of borrowing for the Our Hospital project and the Chief Executive's remarks to the Public Accounts Committee on 28th March, will the Minister confirm whether or not the Government intends to enter into any agreement to borrow money for the Our Hospital project before the formation of the next Council of Ministers?"

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Deputy of Grouville , agreed to consider the proposition of the  Minister  for  Infrastructure  entitled  Jersey  Overseas  Aid  Commission:  reappointment  of Commissioner' (P.35/2022) as the next item of public business following consideration of the Draft Covid-19 (Amendments – Extensions to September 2022) (Jersey) Regulations 202-.

THE  STATES  noted  that   Deputy  Montfort   Tadier  of  St.  Brelade  had  informed  the  Greffier,  in accordance with Standing Order 30(2), that his proposition entitled Empty Property Tax' (P.48/2022) would be deferred from the present meeting to that of 25th April 2022.

Jersey Overseas Aid Commission: reappointment of Commissioner P.35/2022

THE STATES, adopting a proposition of the Minister for International Development entitled Jersey Overseas Aid Commission: reappointment of Commissioner' (P.35/2022), re-appointed Therese Morel as a non-States Commissioner of the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission effective immediately for a three- year period until March 2025, in accordance with the Jersey Overseas Aid Commission (Jersey) Law 2005.
