Minutes. A1. The Sub-Committee approved the minutes of the meetings held on 5th September
2023.
Raising A2. The Sub-Committee discussed plans to raise diversity in candidates standing for Diversity in election. The Sub-Committee confirmed that the diversity campaign organised and led Candidates by the previous Diversity Forum during the last term would be an effective way to raise Standing for interest of the States Assembly and standing for election. The Sub-Committee agreed Election. to organise a similar event, on an annual basis, in liaison with the Political Awareness
and Education Sub-Committee.
The Principal Committee and Panel Officer advised that papers relating to the previous campaign would be gathered with a view to drafting a revised paper for the Sub- Committee to consider at its next meeting. The paper would include a summary of the Sub-Committee’s discussions on the matter. As the campaign would cross over with the work of the Political Awareness and Education Sub-Committee, the Sub-Committee agreed that the Head of Digital and Public Engagement should be invited to attend the next scheduled meeting. The Research and Project Officer was tasked to make the necessary arrangements.
Future A3. The Sub-Committee discussed whether to organise diversity awareness training for Training States Members. It was noted that specific training had already been provided to Sessions for members on cultural humility (Mindset Matters) and another session was due to be States organised in 2024. The Sub-Committee agreed that specific sessions could be provided Members on to members such as on trans awareness, The Sub-Committee suggested that Vic Tanner, Diversity Chief Executive of Liberate Jersey be invited to speak to the Sub-Committee to explore Awareness – the matter further. In that regard, the Sub-Committee agreed that it would consider training for specific items to discuss with Mr. Tanner before the meeting.

Members. The Sub-Committee discussed whether mandatory training for members should be
introduced but acknowledged that this was a matter for the Privileges and Procedures Committee.
The Sub-Committee noted that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) Commonwealth Women Parliamentarians (CWP) network was due to convene a Workshop on Champions for Gender Equality, in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Sub- Committee noted that Deputy Gardiner had applied to attend the workshop which was due to take place from 6 to 8 December 2023. The Sub-Committee noted that the CPA website would include reading materials related to the workshop and tasked the Research and Project Officer to circulate any information which might be relevant to the Sub-Committee.
Diversity A4. The Sub-Committee noted and reviewed the items on the Legacy Report. There Forum Legacy were a number of actions which required further consideration and the Principal Report. Committee and Panel Officer advised that the Red-Amber-Green table would be revised
for consideration at the next Sub-Committee meeting. In relation to the action for diversity of recruitment on States Owned Bodies and Arm’s Length Organisations, the Sub-Committee requested that an update should be sought from People and Corporate Services.
Remote A5. The Sub-Committee noted that the briefing on remote participation in the States Participation in Assembly and proxy voting would take place on 5th December 2023. It was noted that States the PowerPoint for the presentation was currently going through quality assurance and Assembly. would be circulated to the Sub-Committee in due course.
Forthcoming A6. The Sub-Committee noted the upcoming propositions lodged for debate at the next propositions of States sitting.

Future A7. The Sub-Committee noted that its next meeting was due to take place on 19th Meetings. December 2023. Due to the time of year, the Sub-Committee agreed to reschedule the
meeting which would be held in the new year. In terms of the 2024 meeting schedule, the Sub-Committee agreed that it would meet every month to six weeks on either a Wednesday or a Thursday. The Research and Project Officer was tasked to identify suitable dates and circulate a meeting schedule.
