This Order replaces the Community Provisions (Restrictive Measures – Syria) (Jersey) Order 2011, to give effect in Jersey to –

  1. Council Regulation (EU) No. 36/2012 of 18 January 2012 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria and repealing Regulation (EU) No. 442/2011 (OJ No. L 16, 19.1.2012, p.1); and
  2. Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 55/2012 of 23 January 2012 implementing Article 33(1) of Regulation (EU) No. 36/2012 concerning restrictive measures in view of the situation in Syria (OJ No. L 19, 24.1.2012, p.6).

The Order was made on 27th January 2012 and came into force on 28th January 2012.

This Order updates the Community Provisions (Restrictive Measures – Iran) (Jersey) Order 2010 in order to provide for the implementation in Jersey of the latest amendments to Council Regulation (EU) No. 961/2010 of 25th October 2010 on restrictive measures against Iran. Those amendments are made by Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 54/2012 of 23rd January 2012 (OJ L 19, 24.1.2012, p. 1), which amends the list of entities against whom restrictive measures are imposed, and Council Implementing Regulation (EU) No. 56/2012 of 23rd January 2012 (OJ L 19, 24.1.2012, p. 10), which permits certain limited transfers of funds and economic resources to be made from certain banks.

The Order was made on 27th January 2012 and came into force on 28th January 2012.
