REPORT
A new Dental Department is planned to be built on the ground floor of Dandara's J1 development in Patriotic Street/Newgate Street. The provision of the structural shell is being provided in Dandara as part of an agreement with Health and Social Services involving exchange of land and freehold of part of the ground floor of the new development, approved by the States on 14th May 2002.
The new Department will provide 6 dental surgeries along with separate waiting rooms for children and adults, recovery room, reception, office, interview room, staff room, x-ray room and other supporting services. It will replace the existing cramped 4-surgery department which is scheduled to be demolished as part of the Committee's General Hospital extension in Newgate Street.
Funding for the fitting-out contract will be from the Committee's 2001 Capital Programme. The project has been delayed for 3 years due to difficulties in finding a suitable property followed by the time taken to negotiate with Dandara and then the construction period of the Dandara development.
There will be no staff or revenue implications of this project as all budgets and staff will transfer from the existing Dental Department.
