REPORT
On 18th March 1997, the States agreed the purchase of La Carrière, Bellozanne Valley, St. Helier and several other properties in close proximity to the operations at the waste disposal site in Bellozanne Valley. The house was acquired in 1999 for £260,000. It is a substantial 3-storey, 4-bedroom detached house with parking for 4 cars and approximately one vergée of land.
The Public Services Department originally housed one of their employees from the waste disposal site in the house. Most recently the Royal Court Usher was relocated to the property whilst the States building was being refurbished. The Public Services Department no longer has a use for this property and it has lain empty for several months.
The Housing Committee has an interest in taking over the administration of the property and has an immediate use for it. The property is in need of some minor repair work to the roofs and to rectify minor damp problems, which the Housing Committee has indicated a willingness to undertake. The Committee has families urgently in need of 4-bedroom properties, and welcomes this opportunity to add La Carrière to its current stock.
The Committee therefore proposes that its administration of La Carrière be transferred to the Housing Committee. There are no additional financial implications for the States, and there are no manpower implications.
