THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion
to r ef er to their Act dated 7th July 2004 in which they agreed that the composition of the Shadow Public
Accounts Committee should be amended to include 2 additional States members, not being Presidents of Committees or members of the Finance and Economics Committee or Privileges and Procedures Committee, with the additional members being appointed by the States on the nomination of the Shadow Chairman of the Committee, and –
t o a p p o i n t D eputy Jacqueline Jeannette Huet of St. Helier as a member of the Shadow Public
Accounts Committee for the period ending 27th January 2005.
DEPUTY S.C. FERGUSON OF ST. BRELADE
REPORT
I am particularly pleased to propose Deputy J.J. Huet for membership of the Shadow Public Accounts Committee. Deputy Huet came to the States in 1993 with an established background in banking and audit. She has served on the St. Helier Community Board for a number of years and has built up a wealth of Committee experience, having been a member of the then Defence Committee, the Housing and Harbours and Airport Committees and the current Environment and Public Services Committee. Deputy Huet currently holds the Presidency of the Overseas Aid Committee, which continues to maintain an enviable reputation for effectiveness and efficiency in the worldwide fight against poverty and the provision of disaster relief. Her enquiring mind, financial prudence and plain speaking have undoubtedly played their part in the continued success of that Committee. I believe that these skills and abilities, combined with her political experience, will allow Deputy Huet to make an excellent contribution to the ongoing work of the Shadow Public Accounts Committee.
There are no financial or manpower implications arising from this proposition.
