REPORT

The Planning and Building (Jersey) Law 2002 provides that there should be a Planning Applications Panel comprising up to 9 States Members; and that its members will be appointed  by  the  States  on  the  nomination  of  the  Minister  for  Planning  and Environment.  Following  the  appointment  of  the   Deputy  of   St. Peter  as  Assistant Minister – Planning and the Built Environment, there is a post to fill on the Panel. I am delighted to nominate Senator Francis du Heaume Le Gresley, M.B.E. for membership of the Panel. The extensive experience he has brought to the Chamber will be equally invaluable to the Planning Applications Panel.

I would also like to re-confirm the existing Membership of the Panel until the end of 2011. The existing members of the Panel are the Connétable of Trinity (Chairman), the Connétable s of St. Mary , St. Saviour and St. John , Deputies P.V.F. Le Claire of St. Helier and J.M. Maçon of St. Saviour .

Please note that the Law allows for nominations only to be made by the Minister. If the States reject these nominations, the Minister can nominate another States member, and so on, until the vacancies are filled.

Financial and manpower implications

There are no financial or manpower implications for the States arising from this proposition.
