THE STATES are asked to decide whether they are of opinion
in accordance with Article 18(1) of the Employment of States of Jersey Employees (Jersey) Law 2005, to re-appoint Mr. Kenneth Soar as a Commissioner for a period of 4 years.

REPORT
Introduction
The Chief Minister recommends the re-appointment of Mr. Kenneth Soar as a member of the Jersey Appointments Commission for a period up to 2015.
Background
The Jersey Appointments Commission members' periods of office and expiry dates are as follows –
Mr. A. Merry (Chairman) 23/02/10 – 23/02/14 Mr. B. Curtis 23/02/06 – 23/02/13 Mr. K. Soar 18/04/07 – 18/04/11 Mr. J. Rogers 29/04/09 – 29/04/13 Mr. J. Morris 23/02/10 – 23/02/14
It is important to retain the experience of Mr. Soar's membership of the Jersey Appointments Commission, as he is currently the second longest-serving member. Re-appointment of Mr. Soar for a further period of 4 years will assist in maintaining continuity within the membership of the Appointments Commission.

This proposal does not have any additional resource implications, as confirmed below –
