  1. Is the Presidentconfident that the method used to obtain the results wasappropriate and accuratein view of the subsequent criticism of the survey byboththeJerseyEstateAgentsAssociationandbymembersof the Housing Committee?
  2. Will the President inform memberswhether the Committee is taking action to ensure that any future surveys address all aspects of the concernsraisedby the Jersey Estate AgentsAssociation?

  1. No,weneedtobe satisfied that the Jerseyhousepriceindex reliably reflects price movements in the Island's housing market,and neither I nor the Headof Statistics is satisfied with the coverageof the present indexand weare seeking waystoimprove it.

The matter has been puton the agenda for the next meeting of the Statistics Users Group in February 2003 and I have asked that group to produce a reporton its findings, together with anyrecommendations for the future. I am sure that the Statistics Users Group will take full accountof the concerns raised by theJersey Estates Agents Association.
