Question

Would the President inform members

  1. how the breakfast club at Les LandesSchool,whichisrun from 7.30 a.m. daily, is being funded, including any additionalpremises and staff costs; if this impactsontheschoolbudget,is the Committee satisfied that this represents value for moneyand best use of funds, and would he also explain whether the club is open to all the school's children, and, if not,why not? and,
  2. does the Committee operate a policy regarding theextendeddaycareof children atschool, and, ifso, does this acknowledgethevalueofhome life and the parent's responsibility toprovide it?

  1. The breakfast club atLesLandesSchool is fundedby parental contributions. 15places are available. Only12 children actually take advantageoftheprovision.Anychildcan be considered for a place.
  2. The Committee does not, at present, have a policyregardingtheextended day careof children at school. Schools are, however, strongly encouraged to work in partnership with parents in the best interests of children. In constructive partnerships, the value of both home and school life, aswellas the responsibilities of parents and school staff, are clearly understood by all partners. Such partnerships can lead to the developmentofcreative and supportive projects suchashomeworkclubs,community associations, parenting groups andbreakfastclubs.TheCommittee is supportive ofthese initiatives because of the benefits they bring to children.
