WRITTEN QUESTION TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE PRIVILEGES AND PROCEDURES COMMITTEE BY DEPUTY G.C.L. BAUDAINS OF ST. CLEMENT
ANSWER TO BE TABLED ON TUESDAY 27th SEPTEMBER 2005
Question
"Would the President inform members –
( a ) w h e ther the Committee was consulted in connection with the further reduction in the provision of
members parking at Snow Hill from ten places to six and the proposed transfer of the balance of this parking provision to Sand Street car park? and,
( b ) w h e ther the Committee supports this transfer?" Answer
"The Committee was not consulted on the recent changes to members' parking arrangements at Snow Hill and Sand Street car park, although it subsequently received a number of complaints from members regarding the revised arrangements. On that basis that individual members of the Assembly do not appear to have been consulted on the changes, the Committee has some difficulty in supporting the action taken by the Environment and Public Services Committee.
The Committee acknowledges that the Environment and Public Services Committee has responsibility for the provision of parking facilities for members in accordance with decisions of the Assembly; however, it has requested that the Environment and Public Services Committee consult with members, and additionally with the Privileges and Procedures Committee, before any such decisions are taken in future."
