Question

"Would the Minister provide the Assembly with a detailed breakdown of each of the last 5 years in respect of

  1. th e numberof police officers, ifany,whohavebeendisciplined;
  2. th e numberof police officers, ifany,whohavebeensuspended from service;
  3. t h e numberof police officers, ifany,whohavebeencharged with criminal offences;
  4. th e numberof officers, if any,whohave been off work through ill health, together with the total number of hours accounted for by sickness for each of the last 5 years?"

Answer

  1. The numberofpolice officers found guilty of a discipline offenceat a disciplinary hearing over the last 5 years is 3 for 2006 and 2 for 2007.
  2. 13 officers have been suspended for varying periods of time over the last 5 years.
  3. Four. Ofthese,two resulted in convictions. In both cases, the person concerned is nolongeremployed by the States of Jersey Police.
  4. Collating the detail ofeach individual staffsicknessepisodeover the last 5 year period andbreaking it down into hours represents a considerabletask that cannotbecompleted with scarce resources at this time.
