Question

Could the Minister provide a breakdown of plane journeys costing over £1,000 taken by senior civil servants in each States department over the last 5 years?

Answer

A list of plane journeys costing more than £1,000 taken by civil servants over the last 5 years is detailed in the attached table. This list does not include relevant flights taken by pay groups other than civil servants, such as police officers, teachers or doctors.

All this information is being considered as part of the review of the States of Jersey's travel policy, which is currently underway. This work will lead to an updated policy covering all the public sector.

Ministers are determined to ensure all travel undertaken by staff and politicians is necessary and represents value for money. The public sector is making important savings and improving efficiency, and travel costs must form part of that. At the same time, promoting Jersey around the world delivers jobs and inward investment for our Island and helps to secure our global position. This work does involve foreign travel.
