Question

Will the Minister advise –

  1. how many social workers are employed to work with children and families;
  2. what budget is assigned to this work; and
  3. what vacancies, if any, there currently are in this area?

  1. The numbers (FTE) of social workers requiring a social work qualification employed to work with children and families are shown in the table below.

  1. The total budget for Children's services is £20,686,055 with budget allocation for staff of £12,846,965 and a budget for the above staff of £5,703,260.
  2. There are 36 FTE vacancies in posts which require a professional social work qualification and registration with the regulatory body. Posts which are vacant are not left unfilled and are backfilled by temporary staff to provide services to children and families.
