OQ.136/2021

ORAL QUESTION FOR TUESDAY 29th JUNE 2021 Senator K.L. Moore will ask the following question of the Minister for Home Affairs –

"Was the Minister consulted prior to the Political Oversight Group's request that the Treasury and Exchequer Department approve the deferral of £400,000 for Combined Control I.T. and £671,000 for an Aerial Ladder Platform until 2022, as identified in the report R.105/2021, regarding transfers between Heads of Expenditure?"

The following response was provided in writing in accordance with Standing Order 63(9) as the oral question was not asked before the end of the time allowed for Oral Questions:

The Minister of the time was consulted about the deferrals when they were discussed at Council of Ministers on 1st April 2021. As Assistant Minister I was present when they were discussed at Council of Ministers on 27th April 2021. This was prior to the Treasury Minister approving the transfer on 27th May.

In relation to these deferments specifically, delays to the projects as a result of Covid-19 meant that it would not have been possible to deliver them within this year of funding. There is therefore no additional risk to the projects due to these deferrals.
