Question

Will the Minister set out, for each of the last 5 years –

  1. the number of planning applications made to the department;
  2. the number of such applications that were granted approval on the first attempt;
  3. the number of such applications that were granted approved on the second attempt and, if there were applications subject to multiple attempts at approval, the number of applications granted approval on the third attempt, fourth attempt and so on;
  4. the number of retrospective planning applications that were made to the department;
  5. the number of such retrospective applications that were granted approval on the first attempt;
  6. the number of such retrospective applications that were granted approved on the second attempt and, if there were applications subject to multiple attempts at approval, the number of applications granted approval on the third attempt, fourth attempt and so on; and
  7. the number of planning officers who dealt with applications in each year?

*The department is unable to supply separate figures for approval granted on subsequent occasions. This is because applicants will adjust their proposals, seeking to address previous reasons for refusal, and the application will therefore be regarded as a fresh attempt to secure permission for a different scheme. If required, the department can supply a full list of applications determined within each period, so that Members can see where there are multiple applications at the same address.
