WQ.73/2022

WRITTEN QUESTION TO THE MINISTER FOR CHILDREN AND EDUCATION BY THE CONNÉTABLE OF ST. JOHN

QUESTION SUBMITTED ON MONDAY 21st FEBRUARY 2022 ANSWER TO BE TABLED ON MONDAY 28th FEBRUARY 2022

Question

“Will the Minister advise –

  1. how many High Efficiency Particulate Air (H.E.P.A.) filters have been installed to date in local primary and secondary schools;
  2. how many additional filters, if any, are still required; and
  3. when any such additional filters will be installed?”

Answer

  1. To date none. We are currently implementing a process for the installation of these filters in primary and secondary schools.

The process is as follows:

CO2 monitors record air quality in schools, which, if required, is reported to the Department with a request for a unit(s) via the Safer Return to Schools Team Lead. Filters will then be dispatched on the same day.

Process for Hepa13 Air Purifier Unit Application – flow chart:

  1. The process, as outlined above, will determine demand and therefore how many, if any, additional filters are needed.
  2. As and when requests are received, and therefore demand established, additional units, should they be needed will be ordered immediately and installed as soon as they are supplied.
